Pune Porsche Accident: Doctors Arrested for Blood Sample Tampering
  • PublishedMay 28, 2024

In a significant development in the Pune Porsche accident case, police arrested two senior doctors from Sassoon General Hospital for allegedly tampering with the blood samples of a teen driver. The doctors, Dr. Ajay Taware and Dr. Shrihari Halnor, were accused of replacing the driver’s blood samples, which showed no traces of alcohol, with another person’s samples. A hospital peon, Atul Ghatkamble, was also arrested for collecting a ₹3 lakh bribe intended for the doctors.

The 17-year-old driver, allegedly drunk, caused a fatal accident on May 19, killing two IT professionals. Following the arrests, police recovered the ₹3 lakh and detained the doctors until May 30. Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar revealed that the driver’s father, Vishal Agarwal, orchestrated the tampering by contacting Dr. Taware. The police have added several charges, including criminal conspiracy and forgery, to the case.

Further investigations uncovered financial transactions related to the sample replacement. The police are now examining CCTV footage from Sassoon General Hospital to identify additional suspects involved. The juvenile, initially granted bail, is now in an observation home until June 5 following public outrage and a police review application.

In another development, Vishal Agarwal is also under investigation for kidnapping and wrongful confinement of his driver. Meanwhile, Porsche representatives inspected the luxury car involved in the crash.
