Mandy Takhar Remembers Late Co-Star Sidhu Moosewala on His Death Anniversary
On Sidhu Moosewala’s second death anniversary, his “Yes I Am Student” (2021) co-star Mandy Takhar fondly recalls their time together. “We used to have lunch together on set. His mom would set up food like a langar. He was new to acting, and his innocence and nervousness were endearing. Fans even thought we were romantically involved after some interviews, but we were just fond of each other. Some fans were upset when I got married, thinking I betrayed Sidhu,” she shares.
Takhar recounts a memorable moment from their film: “We were shooting a song called ‘Jaan.’ I tripped, and he pulled me towards him to prevent a fall. It was a genuine moment that we kept in the song. I cherish these sweet experiences with him in his last film.”
Remembering Moosewala’s personality, she says, “He had the most childlike smile and was always eager to give his best. Despite his aggressive song lyrics, he was innocent with many dreams unfulfilled. His music, like ‘295,’ ‘The Last Ride,’ and ‘Badfella,’ will remain evergreen. Even at parties, weddings, or the gym, I say, ‘Play Sidhu’s song!’ He became a legend in just five years, something many can’t achieve in a lifetime.”
After his death on May 28, 2022, Takhar checked on his parents, Charan Kaur and Balkaur Singh. “Meeting them was emotional. Losing Sidhu was hard, but seeing them start anew with a baby is beautiful. Sidhu is irreplaceable, but their resilience is inspirational,” she concludes.
