Adani Group to Launch Consumer App, Enter E-Commerce and Payments Market
The Adani Group, led by Gautam Adani, is set to launch services on its consumer app, Adani One, which debuted in 2022. The conglomerate plans to diversify into the fast-growing e-commerce and payments segments, aiming to compete with major players like Google and Reliance Industries, according to a Financial Times report.
The Adani Group is reportedly planning to apply for a license to operate on India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and finalize a co-branded credit card. The group is also negotiating to offer online shopping through the government-backed Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), which would eliminate the need to invest in proprietary payment or e-commerce platforms.
Adani One will target existing customers from Adani’s gas, electricity, and airport services, allowing them to earn loyalty points through bill payments that can be redeemed for online shopping. This strategic move aims to leverage the existing customer base and integrate various Adani services into a single digital platform.
The group’s entry into these sectors is part of a broader strategy to expand its digital business footprint, potentially transforming it into a significant player in the Indian e-commerce and digital payments markets.
