UNRWA Condemns Attacks on Sheltering Families in Rafah, Gaza

The United Nations Palestinian refugee agency, UNRWA, has condemned reports of attacks on families seeking shelter in Rafah, located in the southern Gaza Strip, calling them “horrifying.”

“Information coming out of Rafah about further attacks on families seeking shelter is horrifying,” UNRWA stated on X. “There are reports of mass casualties including children and women among those killed. Gaza is hell on earth. Images from last night are yet another testament to that.”

According to Palestinian health and civil emergency service officials, Israeli air strikes on Sunday resulted in at least 35 Palestinian deaths and numerous injuries in an area of Rafah designated for displaced individuals.

The Israeli military confirmed that its air force targeted a Hamas compound in Rafah and noted that the incident is currently under review.
