Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna to Appear Before SIT, Claims Depression and Extends Apologies
  • PublishedMay 27, 2024

Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna announced his intention to appear before a special investigation team (SIT) probing a sexual harassment case against him on May 31 at 10 am. In a video statement, Revanna clarified that his recent foreign trip was pre-planned and unrelated to the cases filed against him post Lok Sabha elections. He cited depression induced by alleged attacks from Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, and asserted his determination to confront what he termed as a political conspiracy aimed at ending his career.

Expressing faith in the judicial system, Revanna pledged full cooperation with the investigation, vowing to prove his innocence. He also extended apologies to his grandfather and former PM HD Deve Gowda, as well as his uncle Kumaraswamy.

Previously, HD Deve Gowda had issued a stern warning urging Prajwal to surrender to the police. Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah has requested the Ministry of External Affairs to suspend Revanna’s diplomatic passport and facilitate his return to the country. Revanna’s decision to address the allegations and cooperate with the SIT comes amid mounting pressure from political quarters and legal proceedings surrounding the case.
