Shimron Hetmyer Fined for Code of Conduct Breach in IPL 2024 Qualifier

Shimron Hetmyer of Rajasthan Royals was fined 10% of his match fees for a Level 1 offence under the IPL Code of Conduct during Qualifier 2 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, on May 24. Hetmyer admitted to the offence after smashing the wickets in frustration upon being bowled by SRH’s Abhishek Sharma.

The incident occurred in the 14th over of RR’s chase when Hetmyer misjudged the pace of the delivery, resulting in his dismissal for 4 off 10 balls. His reaction led to the sanction imposed by match referee Javagal Srinath.

SRH’s disciplined bowling restricted RR to 139 for 7 in 20 overs, with Yashasvi Jaiswal (42) and Dhruv Jurel (56 not out) top-scoring. SRH posted 175 for 9, powered by Heinrich Klaasen’s 50, Travis Head’s 34, and Rahul Tripathi’s 37. SRH spinners Shahbaz Ahmed (3/23) and Abhishek Sharma (2/24) played crucial roles in their victory, advancing SRH to the final.
