Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Phase 6: Key Highlights
Phase 6 of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 is underway today, May 25, across 58 constituencies in six states and two union territories, including all seven seats in Delhi. Over 11.13 crore voters are eligible, comprising 5.84 crore men, 5.29 crore women, and 5,120 third-gender electors. Voting is from 7 am to 6 pm.
States and UTs involved are Uttar Pradesh (14 seats), Haryana (10), Bihar (8), West Bengal (8), Odisha (6), Jharkhand (4), Delhi (7), and Jammu and Kashmir (1). Around 11.4 lakh polling officials are stationed at 1.14 lakh polling stations.
Prominent candidates include Union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Rao Inderjit Singh, BJP’s Maneka Gandhi and Sambit Patra, and Congress’ Kanhaiya Kumar and Raj Babbar. Significant constituencies include Sultanpur, Gurugram, Faridabad, and Anantnag–Rajouri.
The Election Commission has deployed extensive security with 20 special trains and multiple surveillance teams. Weather in Delhi is forecasted to be hot, with temperatures reaching up to 44°C.
Voter turnout in previous phases ranged from 62.2% to 69.16%. Results for the final phase, voting on June 1 for 57 seats, will be declared on June 4.
