Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the INDIA bloc during his recent rally in Patiala, Punjab, labeling it “extremely communal, casteist, and nepotist.” Modi, donning a traditional Sikh turban, emphasized Punjab’s integral role in nation-building while criticizing the current AAP government over corruption and drug-related issues.
Modi highlighted the emotional significance of Kartarpur Sahib and lamented its separation due to partition. He asserted that if given the opportunity in 1971, he would have reclaimed Kartarpur Sahib from Pakistan. Modi’s speech also focused on the BJP’s efforts to uplift the Sikh community, including tax exemptions for langar materials and relaxing foreign donation norms for the Golden Temple.
The PM accused the INDIA bloc of betraying farmers and reiterated BJP’s commitment to their welfare, citing record wheat and paddy purchases and increased Minimum Support Price (MSP) over the past decade. However, former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, who has not campaigned due to health reasons, was absent from the rally.
Other BJP candidates, including Parampal Kaur Sidhu, Arvind Khanna, Hans Raj Hans, and Gejja Ram Valmiki, were present. Modi’s address underscores BJP’s campaign strategy in Punjab and its efforts to secure votes in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
