Addressing a poll rally in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi championed the implementation of a Uniform Civil Code (UCC), advocating for a common set of laws for all citizens, irrespective of their religion. Modi accused the Congress party of supporting Sharia law under the guise of the Muslim Personal Law.

He emphasized, “Regardless of whether an Indian citizen is Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, or Buddhist, there should be a uniform civil law for everyone.”

Modi also defended Kangana Ranaut, the BJP’s candidate from Mandi, against derogatory remarks by Congress, describing these comments as an insult to Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, and its daughters.

Additionally, Modi criticized the Congress-led Himachal Pradesh government for allegedly mismanaging central aid intended for flood victims, promising to investigate the issue if re-elected. The BJP claimed that the Centre had allocated ₹1,762 crore for flood relief, alongside funds for infrastructure projects, accusing Congress of selective distribution.
