The Pune Police have requested the Juvenile Justice Board to try a 17-year-old as an adult for causing a fatal accident that killed two IT professionals. The incident occurred when the teenager, allegedly drunk, drove his father’s Porsche Taycan and struck the victims. The father, a prominent builder, instructed his driver to give the keys to his son on demand, resulting in the car being driven without a license.
Following the accident, the Juvenile Justice Board revoked the teen’s bail, placing him in a remand home for 14 days. The father was also arrested and is in police custody until May 24. Additionally, two bar owners were arrested for serving alcohol to the minor, who reportedly spent ₹48,000 in a few hours.
Savitha Awadhiya, mother of victim Aneesh Awadhiya, called the accident “murder” and demanded strict punishment for the teenager. She accused the family of using their wealth to evade justice and appealed to the Maharashtra government for support.
