The Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued a show cause notice to Mohali builder Jarnail Singh Bajwa for failing to complete electricity work in Sector 123, Sunny Enclave. Bajwa did not produce a completion certificate and has outstanding electricity charges. Justice Rajbir Sehrawat’s bench scheduled the matter for July 3 and requested Bajwa’s personal appearance and response.
The court noted that Bajwa may have already committed contempt by not fulfilling his obligations, warranting possible conviction and sentencing. However, before finalizing the conviction, Bajwa is being given a chance to explain why he should not be convicted.
The issue began when Bajwa, in December 2022, promised to finish the work by March 2023 but did not comply. Consequently, residents filed a contempt plea in February 2023. Lawyer Rakesh Dhiman stated that 99 residents approached the court in 2022, alleging the developer’s failure to provide basic infrastructure.
