A now-viral video shows an abandoned black Rolls Royce Phantom VII parked on a hotel porch in Kolkata, accumulating dust in an open area. Shared by Instagram user @supercarsofkolkata, the video has attracted significant attention online. The caption reveals that the luxury car was bought brand new in 2012 by Gautam Kundu, owner of the Rose Valley group of companies.
Comments on the video range from inquiries about the car’s location and restoration possibilities to lamentations over its neglected state. One user noted, “That’s the car of Rose Valley’s owner!”
The Rose Valley company is infamous for a multi-crore financial scam, involving a ₹17,000 crore Ponzi scheme in West Bengal. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a supplementary chargesheet in the Rose Valley chit fund scam case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). This chargesheet names 35 companies and includes Subhra Kundu, wife of the arrested owner Gautam Kundu, marking the first charges against her despite previous mentions by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).
