Delhi Police Collect Exhibits from CM Kejriwal’s Residence in Swati Maliwal Assault Case
Delhi Police visited Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on Sunday to collect exhibits from the spot where Rajya Sabha member Swati Maliwal was allegedly assaulted by the CM’s aide Bibhav Kumar. Maliwal accused Kumar of assaulting her without provocation, while Kumar filed a counter-claim, alleging Maliwal of forcefully entering the premises and using abusive language.
Exhibits collected from the residence included a digital video recorder (DVR) and relevant CCTV footage. The police will now scrutinize the footage to verify the allegations made by Maliwal and Kumar’s account of the events.
Kumar was arrested from the chief minister’s residence on Saturday and remanded to seven-day police custody. The police suspect tampering of CCTV footage from the day of the incident and will investigate further.
The Aam Aadmi Party accused the police of spreading false news at the BJP’s behest, alleging tampering with the CCTV footage. Police revealed that Kumar’s employment was terminated earlier, yet he continued working at the CM’s residence.
Additionally, Kumar formatted his mobile phone in Mumbai and is uncooperative. The police plan to retrieve data from his password-protected iPhone. Kumar has a criminal record dating back to 2007 for assault on a public servant.
