Congress Candidate Expresses Concern Over Punjab’s Industrial Development
Vijay Inder Singla, Congress’ candidate from Anandpur Sahib, highlighted the alarming lack of industrial development in Punjab, attributing it to the failures of both the central and state governments. Singla emphasized the state’s poor gross domestic product (GDP) per capita ranking as a matter of concern.
During his campaign in various parts of the Mohali assembly constituency, Singla engaged with industrialists and members of the Mohali Industries Association (MIA). He urged for closer collaboration with entrepreneurs who have expanded their businesses in other states, advocating for measures to stimulate industrial growth.
Singla criticized the state government for its ineffective efforts to attract investments, despite elaborate summits and promotional campaigns. He lamented the migration of Punjab’s youth to foreign countries due to a lack of suitable employment opportunities matching their skills.
Addressing the issue of infrastructure, Singla promised accelerated efforts to introduce a metro system in the state. He pledged to focus on enhancing employment opportunities and fostering industrial growth to address the challenges faced by Punjab’s economy.
Singla’s campaign was supported by former cabinet minister Balbir Singh Sidhu, Mohali mayor Amarjit Singh Sidhu, and deputy mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi. The candidate’s interaction with industrialists underscored the importance of engaging with key stakeholders to drive economic development in the region.
