Swati Maliwal Denounces Released Video, Claims Assault Allegations Are Out of Context
Amid controversy over AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal’s allegations of assault by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s PA Bibhav Kumar, a video from Kejriwal’s residence on May 13 surfaced. The video, not independently verified by Hindustan Times, shows Maliwal arguing with staff, insisting she called the police and would stay until they arrived. She is heard warning staff not to touch her or risk losing their job.
Maliwal responded, claiming the video was out of context, and asserted the full truth would emerge once CCTV footage is reviewed. Following a police call from Kejriwal’s residence and an initial visit without filing a complaint, Maliwal recorded her statement Thursday night. A medical examination at AIIMS confirmed internal facial injuries.
Maliwal’s FIR alleges Kumar slapped her 7-8 times, dragged her, and kicked her in the chest, stomach, and pelvis, despite her pleas of being in severe pain due to menstruation. She recounted the assault, threats from Kumar, and her subsequent police report.
Reacting to the video, Maliwal condemned efforts to discredit her, urging that the complete CCTV footage be reviewed to reveal the truth. “Fall to whatever level you can, God is watching everything. One day everyone’s truth will come out in front of the world,” she posted on X.
