Zerodha’s Nikhil Kamath Praises Bengaluru’s People and Startup Culture

Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath has expressed his deep appreciation for Bengaluru, despite the challenges its residents face. Kamath highlighted that while Hyderabad is known for its Biryani, Mumbai for its “good-looking people,” and Delhi for its wealthy residents, Bengaluru stands out for its “nice people.” He emphasized that the city’s residents are welcoming, understated, and subtle, making it his favorite city.

Kamath pointed out that the love and warmth of Bengaluru’s people outweigh issues like traffic and road conditions. He praised the city as an ideal place for startups, citing its immense talent pool available at competitive costs. “If you have to build something, if you have to start a company, the access to talent at the cost you get in Bengaluru, I don’t think you get that anywhere in the world,” Kamath stated.

He also mentioned his interactions with prominent business leaders in Bengaluru, including Biocon’s executive chairperson Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw. Kamath revealed ongoing efforts to enhance Bengaluru’s image and appeal, both in reality and perception.

Despite some challenges, Kamath’s admiration for Bengaluru’s people and its vibrant startup ecosystem underscores the city’s unique charm and potential.
