Phase 4 of Lok Sabha Elections: Leaders Urge High Voter Turnout
Phase 4 of the Lok Sabha elections commenced today with leaders across the political spectrum urging citizens to participate actively in the democratic process. Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the duty to strengthen India’s democracy, urging voters to turn up at polling booths in record numbers. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge echoed this sentiment, urging voters to support the INDIA bloc in forming the government at the Centre.
Polling for 96 seats across 10 states and Union Territories, including Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh, alongside Assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, highlights the widespread electoral activity. Over 17.7 crore eligible voters are called upon to exercise their franchise, with over 19 lakh polling officials deployed across 1.92 lakh polling stations to facilitate the process.
Notable candidates in this phase include Union Minister Giriraj Singh, SP’s Akhilesh Yadav, and Congress’ Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary. Despite the Indian Meteorological Department forecasting normal to below normal temperatures, the Election Commission has ensured necessary provisions such as water and fans at polling stations.
With Phase 4 marking the completion of polling for 379 seats across 23 States and UTs, anticipation builds for the vote count scheduled on June 4, 2024. The active participation of voters is crucial in shaping the future leadership and policies of the nation.
