Bomb Threats Target Schools and Hospitals in Delhi and Jaipur

Bomb Threats Target Schools and Hospitals in Delhi and Jaipur
  • PublishedMay 13, 2024

Multiple schools in Jaipur, Rajasthan, received bomb threats via email, prompting evacuations and police interventions. Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph confirmed that four to five schools were targeted, with police actively investigating to identify the sender.

These incidents come just 12 days after over 150 schools in Delhi-NCR received similar threats, creating widespread panic and triggering evacuations. Additionally, on Sunday, bomb threats were sent to 20 hospitals, the IGI airport, and the Northern Railways’ CPRO office in Delhi.

The threats, delivered via email, contained warnings of explosive devices planted within the buildings, demanding urgent action to prevent casualties. While the emails to Delhi were traced to a Russia-based mailing service, those to hospitals and other installations were linked to a Europe-based service, ‘beeble.com’.

Authorities suspect the use of VPN or proxy servers to conceal the sender’s identity and location, complicating the investigation. Despite extensive searches, no suspicious items have been found yet.

Following the recent spate of threats, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla emphasized the need to enhance security measures, including deploying CCTV cameras and monitoring emails regularly in educational institutions and hospitals. The Delhi Police Special Cell is actively investigating the matter and is expected to file FIRs.

The safety and security of educational institutions and public facilities remain paramount, necessitating swift and thorough investigations to ensure public safety.
