Google surprised its fans with the unexpected launch of the Pixel 8a, deviating from expectations of a release during the upcoming Google I/O event. The new smartphone draws heavily from its predecessor, the Pixel 7a, in terms of design but introduces notable upgrades and features.
In terms of specifications, the Pixel 8a boasts a 6.1-inch OLED Actua display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. It weighs 188 grams and features a distinctive camera module with a dual rear camera system comprising a 64-megapixel main lens and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens. The phone is powered by Google’s Tensor G3 chipset and Titan M2 security coprocessor, paired with 8 GB LPDDR5x RAM.
Key features include AI enhancements facilitated by the built-in Gemini AI assistant, Circle to Search functionality for quick information retrieval, and Audio Emojis for interactive conversations. The camera offers AI features such as Best Take and Magic Editor for creative editing, along with Audio Magic Eraser for removing unwanted sounds from videos.
The Pixel 8a is priced at Rs 52,999 for the 128 GB variant and Rs 59,999 for the 256 GB variant, available for pre-order on Flipkart and set to go on sale on May 14 at 6:30 am.
