“Three Arrested in Connection with Hardeep Singh Nijjar Killing in Canada”
Three individuals, Karanpreet Singh (28), Kamalpreet Singh (22), and Karan Brar (22), have been arrested by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in connection with the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Surrey, Canada. Nijjar, designated as a terrorist by India’s National Investigation Agency in 2020, was shot dead last year. The trio, charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder, were apprehended in Edmonton, Alberta. The RCMP released photographs of the suspects and a Toyota Corolla believed to have been used in the crime. Superintendent Mandeep Mooker emphasized the ongoing investigation’s dedication, stating that more individuals involved in the homicide are being pursued. Assistant Commissioner David Teboul highlighted the investigation’s focus on potential connections to the Government of India. India has refuted allegations of involvement in Nijjar’s killing, prompting a temporary suspension of visa issuance to Canadian citizens, later resumed. Concrete evidence related to the murder is yet to be provided by Canada, as asserted by India.
