“Bastar: The Naxal Story” Box Office Collection Sees Dip on Day 4
  • PublishedMarch 19, 2024

Bastar: The Naxal Story, directed by Sudipto Sen and featuring Adah Sharma in a leading role, continues its box office journey with a noticeable decline in collections on its fourth day of release. According to Sacnilk.com, the film has amassed approximately ₹2.24 crore nett in India since its debut on Friday.

The film’s earnings witnessed a steady progression over the weekend, starting with ₹40 lakh on Friday, followed by ₹75 lakh on Saturday and ₹85 lakh on Sunday. However, on its first Monday, it recorded a collection of ₹24 lakh nett, indicating a drop in audience turnout.

Set against the backdrop of the Naxal insurgency in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar district, Bastar: The Naxal Story portrays Adah Sharma in the role of an IPS officer. Produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, the film reunites the trio after their collaboration on The Kerala Story.

While the film’s patriotic fervor and depiction of sacrifices are laudable, critics suggest that it falls short of fully exploring the complexities of its subject matter. Despite its commendable efforts, the reluctance to delve into the narrative’s shades of grey leaves it feeling somewhat incomplete, as noted in The Hindustan Times review.

Reflecting on the film’s journey, Vipul Amrutlal Shah praised the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for granting an ‘A’ certificate and facilitating its release. He commended the board’s efficiency in navigating the certification process and expressed gratitude for their cooperation, emphasizing their support in bringing sensitive stories to the forefront.

As Bastar: The Naxal Story continues its theatrical run, it remains to be seen how it fares in the coming days amidst evolving audience preferences and cinematic landscapes.
