Recruitment Scam Exposed: Faisal Khan Accused of Luring Indians Into Ukraine-Russia War
In a disturbing revelation, Faisal Abdul Mutallib Khan, the proprietor of a manpower consultancy firm and the face behind the popular YouTube channel “Baba Vlogs,” has come under scrutiny for allegedly orchestrating a recruitment scam that lured several Indian men into non-combat roles in the Russian army. The scam has garnered attention following the deaths of two Indians who were misled into participating in the Ukraine-Russia war.
Faisal Khan, in his mid-30s and based in Mumbai’s Dadar, has been accused of exploiting individuals with promises of lucrative jobs in the Russian army’s support roles. Operating his recruitment agency, Khan utilized his YouTube platform to entice potential recruits, ensuring them hefty salaries and government cards for permanent residency in Russia. However, many of these individuals were allegedly pressed into the war, with tragic consequences, as exemplified by the death of Mohammed Afsan.
Despite claims by Faisal Khan that he sent 35 people to Russia under the assurance that they would not be deployed on the front lines, questions surround his culpability in the unfolding tragedy. Khan asserted that he himself is a victim and that the situation beyond their arrival in Russia was beyond his control. He maintained that all recruits were aware of the risks and defended the continued presence of his recruitment videos on YouTube, citing innocence.
Faisal Khan, who started Babavlogs in 2016, previously faced scrutiny in 2018 when an individual he sent to Dubai claimed to have been converted to Islam. With over three lakh followers on YouTube, Khan began promoting jobs in Russia from July 2023, assuring salaries ranging from ₹40,000 to ₹1 lakh for positions in the Russian Army after three months of training. Allegedly demanding an initial fee of ₹3 lakh, Khan emphasized the safety and legitimacy of the job opportunities.
The unfolding recruitment scam underscores the need for stringent measures to prevent the exploitation of unsuspecting individuals, and authorities are expected to investigate Faisal Khan’s role in the matter.
