During President Joe Biden’s state of the union address, several US government websites, including the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE), Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), U.S. Secret Service, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), experienced an outage lasting around 20 minutes. The cause of the outage is not yet known.
While Search.gov, a search engine for the federal government, mentioned planned maintenance from 3 pm to 6 pm on Thursday, it is unclear if this was related to the reported outage. Users attempting to access these government websites during the outage encountered disruptions.
In addition to government websites, former President Donald Trump’s social media platform, Truth, also faced outages during Biden’s State of the Union address. The platform, which was launched as an alternative to mainstream social media, experienced disruptions during the speech, with users reporting various issues. The cause of the outages on Truth is also not specified.
It is noteworthy that both government website outages and Truth social media platform outages occurred simultaneously, raising questions about potential coordinated cyber incidents or technical glitches affecting these platforms.
