A Spanish travel vlogger, allegedly gang-raped in Jharkhand’s Dumka, is reported to be in a physically stable condition but emotionally shattered, according to the principal district judge, Anil Kumar Mishra. The judge, also chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, met the survivor and submitted a report to the Jharkhand Legal Services Authority (JHALSA). The report outlined the steps taken to ensure the woman’s security during the investigation, assistance in recording her statement under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, and the disbursement of ₹10 lakh compensation by the Jharkhand police.
The survivor’s emotional well-being was emphasized, acknowledging her fragile state. Four arrests have been made in connection with the case, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining accused. The Jharkhand High Court, taking suo moto cognizance, directed the Dumka superintendent of police to submit a status report by Thursday’s scheduled hearing.
The Spanish couple, through social media, sought assistance from the public and police in locating the accused while affirming India’s worthiness as a travel destination. The couple emphasized that incidents like rape or robbery could occur anywhere globally, urging against generalizations about India. The case has stirred public and judicial attention, emphasizing the importance of swift action and support for survivors in such cases.
