Weather Update: Sudden Rainfall in Delhi-NCR as Western Disturbance Influences Region
Delhi-NCR experienced an unexpected shift in weather with light rainfall on Saturday morning, leading to cloudy skies and a slight dip in temperature. The change in weather is attributed to a Western Disturbance, combined with a cyclonic circulation over northwest Afghanistan and its vicinity. A trough extending from this circulation to the Northwest Arabian Sea is influencing weather patterns in the region.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a weather warning, forecasting heavy to very heavy rain or snow at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Additionally, hail is expected at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
The IMD also warned of thunderstorms and lightning with gusty winds ranging from 30 to 50 kilometers per hour at isolated places over Northwest India. The western Himalayan region is expected to experience widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning until March 3.
Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, is forecasted for Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and north Madhya Pradesh until March 3. Punjab may witness isolated heavy rainfall on March 2. Residents are advised to stay cautious and take necessary precautions as per the weather updates.
