PM Modi Condemns Trinamool’s Handling of Sandeshkhali Case: “Have Some Shame”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress and other allies of the INDIA bloc over the Sandeshkhali case, where several women alleged sexual harassment by Trinamool leader Sheikh Shahjahan. Shahjahan was arrested after being on the run for about 50 days. PM Modi criticized Mamata Banerjee’s party for shielding the accused and accused the INDIA bloc leaders of turning a blind eye to the incident.

Addressing the issue for the first time, PM Modi stated, “The country is seeing what Trinamool Congress has done with the sisters of Sandeshkhali. The whole country is angry. The soul of Raja Ram Mohan Roy must have been pained by what happened in Sandeshkhali.” He criticized the Trinamool’s slogan ‘ma mati manush’ and highlighted the protection given to Shahjahan despite the outcry from the victims.

PM Modi commended the BJP leaders for exerting pressure on the government, leading to Shahjahan’s arrest. He questioned Mamata Banerjee’s priorities, asking if some votes had become so dear to her that the suffering of women meant nothing. He called on the people of West Bengal to seek justice for the victims and urged Mamata Banerjee to have some shame.

Mocking the INDIA bloc, PM Modi compared its leaders to the three monkeys of Gandhi, criticizing their reluctance to question the Trinamool government in Bengal. He highlighted Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s dismissive comment about Bengal politics, stating, “Arrey chhodo, Bangal mein ye sab kuch chalta rahta hai,” and accused the INDIA bloc of shielding corrupt and appeasement politics practitioners. PM Modi emphasized the need for accountability and condemned the corruption within the Trinamool ranks.
