Aam Aadmi Party Announces Lok Sabha Candidates for Delhi and Haryana
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has unveiled its candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Delhi and Haryana, marking a significant development following the recent seat-sharing agreement with the Congress. In East Delhi, the party has nominated Kuldeep Kumar, the current MLA from Kondli, as its candidate to contest against BJP’s Gautam Gambhir, the incumbent representative. Another sitting MLA, Somnath Bharti from Malviya Nagar, has been selected by the AAP to vie for the New Delhi seat, currently held by Meenakshi Lekhi of the BJP. Mahabal Mishra, a former Congress MP from West Delhi who recently joined the AAP, is set to contest from the same constituency, leveraging his influence among the Purvanchali voters.
Tughlakabad MLA Sahi Ram Pahalwan has been named the AAP candidate for the South Delhi seat, currently occupied by BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri. In Haryana, the AAP has entrusted the Kurukshetra constituency to former Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Gupta. This candidate announcement comes after the AAP and Congress finalized their seat-sharing arrangement, aiming to present a united front against the BJP in Delhi. The Congress will field candidates in North East Delhi, North West Delhi, and Chandni Chowk, all currently under BJP representation. The AAP hopes that this strategic collaboration will improve their electoral prospects and provide a robust challenge to the BJP in the upcoming elections.
