In a concerning incident, unidentified miscreants attempted to sabotage a rail track in Tamil Nadu’s Kanniyakumari district by placing a cattle skull and boulders on the railway, prompting swift action from authorities. The incident occurred on Tuesday night as the Gandhidham Humsafar Express was passing through the track between Trivandrum and Nagercoil.
The vigilant train operator observed the obstacles on the track and promptly alerted the railway gateman, who, in turn, informed the Railway Police Force (RPF) and other officials. The train was brought to a halt, and authorities discovered boulders, a cattle skull, and bones deliberately placed on the rail track.
Ananda Bose, the gateman, recounted the incident, stating, “We heard a sound after the train came to a halt. Upon inspection, we found boulders and the cattle skull on the track. We removed everything from the track and let the train proceed.” Motorcycle-borne miscreants were seen fleeing the area.
Kanyakumari Police, in collaboration with railway officials, are actively investigating the incident. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined to determine if the act was a deliberate attempt to derail the passenger train.
The railway authorities assure the public of their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of train operations and are cooperating fully with law enforcement agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice.
