Eva Mendes Applauds Ryan Gosling’s Oscar Nomination for ‘Barbie,’ Defends Against Casting Criticism
Hollywood actress Eva Mendes has expressed joy and pride in her partner Ryan Gosling’s Oscar nomination in the Best Supporting Actor category for his role in Greta Gerwig’s film ‘Barbie.’ Mendes took to social media to celebrate Gosling’s achievement while addressing the criticism he faced for taking on the unique role.
In a heartfelt post, Mendes wrote, “So much hate when he took on this role. So many people trying to shame him for doing it. Despite all the #Notmyken ridicule and articles written about him, he created this completely original, hilarious, heartbreaking, now iconic character and took it all the way to Oscars.”
The Academy’s decision not to nominate lead star-producer Margot Robbie and filmmaker Greta Gerwig for their roles in ‘Barbie’ has sparked controversy. Gosling acknowledged the oversight, stating, “There would be no Ken without Barbie.” Former First Lady Hillary Clinton also weighed in on the Oscar snub, expressing support for Gerwig and Robbie.
‘Barbie,’ directed by Greta Gerwig, achieved both critical acclaim and commercial success, marking it as a standout film of the year.
