Coromandel International Limited regrets to report an incident of an ammonia gas leak at our Ennore plant on December 26, 2023. At approximately 11:45 pm, an abnormality was detected in the ammonia unloading subsea pipeline, prompting immediate activation of our Standard Operating Procedure. We swiftly isolated the affected ammonia system and restored normalcy within the shortest possible time.
Regrettably, some members of the local community reported discomfort, for which prompt medical attention was provided. We assure everyone that all affected individuals are safe, receiving appropriate care, and the situation has been contained.
Upon noticing the drop in pipeline pressure and the pungent odor, our team took swift action, diverting ammonia vapors to the flare and completing depressurization within 20 minutes.
