Dr. Samir Shah Selected as BBC Chairman, Bringing 40 Years of Media Expertise

Dr. Samir Shah, a distinguished media figure and veteran with over four decades of experience in TV production and journalism, has been appointed as the preferred candidate for the BBC Chairman role by the UK government. Born in Aurangabad, India, Dr. Shah migrated to England in 1960 and has since held prominent positions, including heading current affairs and political programs at the BBC.

Honored with a CBE for his exceptional contributions to television and heritage, Dr. Shah is set to succeed Richard Sharp following the latter’s resignation. Subject to scrutiny by the House of Commons Media Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee, Dr. Shah is poised to assume leadership at the public service broadcaster.

UK Culture Secretary Lucy Frazer commended Dr. Shah’s extensive expertise, stating, “With a career spanning more than 40 years, Dr. Shah brings invaluable experience to the role of BBC Chair.”
