Explosion Shakes Arlington Neighborhood Amid Police Standoff, Suspect Fires Flare Gun
Arlington County Police responded to a significant incident in the 800 block of N. Burlington Street, Bluemont neighborhood, Monday night. While executing a search warrant, a suspect discharged a flare gun within the residence, resulting in a substantial explosion. The explosion, witnessed by local residents, caused extensive damage, including power outages and minor injuries, while completely destroying adjacent homes.

Mr. Alex Wilson, a neighbor, provided an eyewitness account, describing a lengthy standoff preceding the explosive event. The suspect, identified through public records as James Yoo, remained reclusive for years, according to Wilson.
Arlington Fire and EMS swiftly responded, containing the fire by 10:30 p.m., and authorities confirmed ongoing investigations with ATF involvement.
