The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab unveils the ‘Mukhyamantri Tirath Yatra’ scheme, honoring Guru Nanak Dev’s birth anniversary. Facilitating over 50,000 elderly pilgrims, the initiative offers free travel via trains and AC buses to sacred sites like Hazur Sahib Nanded, Patna Sahib, Anandpur Sahib, Talwandi Sabo, and Naina Devi temple.
Earmarking ₹40 crore, the Mann government provides accommodation in three-star rooms, medical facilities, all complimentary for 53,850 devotees during the 95-day pilgrimage. A ministerial committee, including Aman Arora, Laljit Singh Bhullar, and Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, ensures seamless execution.
Jagtar Singh Sanghera, AAP’s Punjab spokesperson, emphasized the scheme’s significance, enabling elderly individuals to visit diverse religious places nationwide, free of cost. The launch coincides with a commitment to fostering spiritual journeys for the elderly, commemorating Guru Nanak Dev’s teachings of inclusivity and compassion.
