Tragic Loss of Student’s Life in Odisha: Urgent Inquiry Initiated
In a distressing incident at Surya Narayan Nodal Upper Primary School, Orali, Odisha, a heartbreaking loss occurred as ten-year-old Rudra Narayan Sethy, a fourth-grade student, collapsed and passed away allegedly due to enforced physical punishment. On Tuesday, during school hours, Rudra and four classmates were reportedly reprimanded by a teacher, leading to an order for sit-ups as punishment, resulting in Rudra’s collapse.
Rudra was swiftly taken to nearby medical facilities, but despite efforts, he was declared deceased at SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, on Tuesday night.
Education authorities have launched an immediate investigation into this tragic incident. Rasulpur Block Education Officer Nilambar Mishra expressed willingness to act pending a formal complaint, affirming a commitment to uncover the truth and take necessary action against any culpable individuals.
Rasulpur Assistant Block Education Officer Pravanjan Pati is overseeing the inquiry at the school premises. Authorities remain committed to ensuring justice and preventing such incidents in the future.
