Supreme Court Ruling: Patanjali Ayurved Vows to Halt Misleading Advertisements

In a pivotal ruling, the Supreme Court addressed concerns raised by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) regarding misleading advertisements by Patanjali Ayurved. Justices emphasized the cessation of false claims and reprimanded the company for such practices. Patanjali’s counsel pledged to discontinue these ads and ensure compliance moving forward.

The Court highlighted its serious stance against such infractions, seeking authentic solutions rather than sparking an “Allopathy v. Ayurveda” debate. It further urged the Union Government to actively engage in the issue.

This ruling follows last year’s notice to Baba Ramdev for critiquing modern medicine systems. The Court emphasized respect for his role in popularizing yoga but questioned criticism against other systems.

Patanjali Ayurved’s commitment marks a significant step towards transparent advertising practices, aligning with the Court’s directive and promoting responsible marketing.
