Puppy Rescued from San Antonio Sewer After Eight-Hour Ordeal.
In a heartwarming rescue effort, a courageous puppy named Pipa was saved after an arduous eight-hour ordeal trapped within a sewer line. The incident unfolded when three playful pups inadvertently fell into an open clean-out valve while frolicking in a South Side home’s yard on Wednesday.
While two were swiftly rescued by the San Antonio Fire Department, Pipa retreated further into the sewer, prompting a joint operation involving SAWS and the fire department. Employing innovative methods, SAWS officials located Pipa using specialized cameras, meticulously guiding her 200 feet to safety.
Dubbed Pipa by her rescuers, the spirited pup received immediate care from San Antonio Animal Care Services and underwent a thorough examination before joyously reuniting with her relieved owners.
SAWS stressed the rarity of such incidents and urged residents to secure their clean-out valves. The collaborative effort and dedication displayed in Pipa’s rescue encapsulate the city’s compassion for its four-legged residents.
