In a significant move to bolster tourism, Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today the launch of a pilot program offering visa-free entry to Indian travelers along with citizens from six other countries: Russia, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Japan. Effective immediately and running until March 31, 2024, this initiative aims to revive Sri Lanka’s tourism industry.
Foreign Minister Ali Sabry stated, “Cabinet approves issuing of free visas to India, China, Russia, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, and Thailand with immediate effect as a pilot project till 31 March.” Tourists from these nations can now obtain Sri Lankan visas without any fees.
